For over a decade, the Libertarian Party of Arkansas has fielded candidates in Arkansas elections, offering the voters an alternative. We intend to do so again for 2026, but we need your help.
Because the Arkansas election laws make it unreasonably difficult to maintain political party-status after petitioning to obtain it in the first place, the LPAR is now petitioning to become a “new political party” again for the eighth consecutive electoral cycle.
Here’s how you can help:
- Sign the petition: For the next several weeks and months, Libertarian volunteers will be out collecting signatures at festivals, events, and street-corners. Please take a moment of your time to sign.
- Download the petition yourself: A valid petition form can be downloaded at Petition-2026. Sign it and send it to the LPAR at P.O. Box 46730, Little Rock, AR 72214. (Ask your family, friends, and neighbors to sign it too!)
- Donate to the Petition Campaign Fund: Petition campaigns require significant financial support, including the hiring of paid petition canvassers to make sure the job is complete. Please donate to the Libertarian Party’s efforts at https://lpar.org/contribute/donate/
One other thing you might do: Write to your state legislators, urging them to sponsor and vote for the Political Party Recognition Act. This simple piece of legislation would recognize the contributions of new political parties to Arkansas’ political landscape, and provide a more reasonable path for political parties to establish themselves, rather than the current system that requires us to petition to become a “new” political party over and over again.
