In a meeting of the Arkansas Libertarian Party Executive Committee last Thursday, there were several organizational changes made to the ARLP. These changes were made in order to make the ARLP a little more streamlined.
Several new committees were formed that will help the ARLP move forward. All committees will be headed by a Committee Coordinator and will also have a liaison member who is a member of the Executive Committee. The committees will report to the Executive Committee on a regular basis and will be fully answerable to the Executive Committee.
The committees that were agreed on by the Executive Committee are outlined below:
- Fund Raising Committee – This committee will be the fund raising arm of the Arkansas Libertarian Party. There is not a Committee Coordinator named for this committee yet, but David Pangrac, the 3rd District Representative, will be the ExCom liaison to this committee.
- Events Committee – The events committee will be responsible for handling the majority of the details in regards to state wide events for the ARLP. These events can include the annual State Convention, nominating conventions, ARLP Family Day gatherings, etc. The Events Committee Coordinator is Jessica Paxton, the ARLP Communications Director, and the ExCom liaison for this committee is Rodger Paxton, the 1st District Representative. Current members of this committee include Julia Foreman and Eileen Walton.
- Ballot/Election Committee – This committee will be responsible for learning Arkansas law regarding elections and researching any needed information in these laws. Other responsibilities for this committee include heading up ballot access petitioning, etc. The Ballot/Election Committee Coordinator is Casey Copeland and the ExCom liaison is Brian Leach, Secretary. Gerhard Langguth, the ARLP State Chair, is also a member of this committee.
- Newsletter Committee – The Newsletter Committee will be responsible for putting out timely newsletters to the members of the Arkansas Libertarian Party. At first these newsletters will be done quarterly, but this is subject to change. The Newsletter Committee Coordinator is Jessica Paxton, and the ExCom liaison is Rodger Paxton. Other members of this committee include Tom Carpenter, Mark Young and Storm Nolan, Vice-Chair of the ARLP.
- Information Technology Committee – The IT Committee will be responsible for all IT related issues within the party, including website development and maintenance, website hosting, programming, network administration, conference call technology and any other IT related items. This committee will also use and develop technology to make the party more accessible and information more organized. The IT Committee Coordinator is David Pangrac, and the current members are Rodger Paxton, Brian Leach, Mark Corder, and Gerhard Langguth.
The Executive Committee feels that this organization of committees will help the party be more organized, allow members to use their time and talents to help the party progress, and disperse responsibilities among the membership of the party.
