ARLP Executive Committee meeting held tonight

An ARLP Executive Committee meeting was held tonight via Skype.

Many items were discussed and proposed, but the following are some of the items that were passed.

  • Jessica Paxton (Communications Director, Events Committee Coordinator, and Interim 1st District Rep… whew, she stays busy!) proposed several weeks ago a purchase of many promotional items to allow us to promote and spread libertarianism in Arkansas. These items included: Operation Politically Homeless kits and materials, Business Cards, Arkansas LP specific brochures, banners, and signs. The total cost of this was estimates at $900 – $1000. Tom Carpenter of Hot Springs made a $1000 donation to the Arkansas Libertarian Party specifically for the purchase of these materials. Thank you Tom!
  • A social event for the ARLP members and their families will be held at Mt. Nebo State Park near Russellville on August 7th. An expense of $300 was approved and given to the Events Committee to purchase needed items and to reserve the pavilion for this event. The BBQ and cooking for the event has been donated by Tom Bechdoldt of Heber Springs. Thanks Tom! We will have more information in the next several days for this event, so be on the lookout for the cookout!
  • Two new committees were formed tonight. We now have a Membership Development and Retention Committee that will be responsible for bringing in new members and retaining existing members. We also have a Bylaws and Platform Committee. This committee will be responsible for going through our current ByLaws and recommending changes. They will also be responsible for forming an Arkansas Libertarian Party specific platform. If anyone is interested in serving on these committees, please let me know! We also have other committees you may be interested in serving on. These include:
    • Events Committee, responsible for coordinating all of our group events and conventions
    • Fundraising Committee, responsible for raising funds
    • Ballot/Election Committee, responsible for researching ballot access laws and helping us to achieve and retain ballot access and run candidates

I want to thank the Executive Committee for working hard to help us move this party forward. The Executive Committee spends a lot of time and money to work on these things, and I certainly appreciate all that they do.

Rodger Paxton
