ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

The Arkansas Libertarian Party announced Friday the resignation of the party’s longtime state chairman, Gerhard Langguth of Russellville.

Langguth had almost a year remaining in his term as chairman. He will continue on the executive committee.

Rodger Paxton of Marion was appointed chairman. Previously, he was the 1st Congressional District representative on the committee.

“We are not here to be a debate club,” Paxton said. “We are here to bring true liberty to the people of Arkansas, and as [chairman], it is my duty to do just that.”

David Pangrac of Van Buren was appointed vice chairman, taking the place of Storm Nolan of Fort Smith, who was appointed the 3rd Congressional District representative.

Jessica Paxton of Marion, the party’s communications director, will serve as the interim 1st Congressional District representative. The Paxtons are husband and wife.

The next Libertarian Party event will be Sunday from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at AQ Chicken, 1207 N. Thompson St., Springdale. Trevor Drown, independent candidate for U.S. Senate, will be the special guest.
